Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 2026
At UnwrapTruth, your privacy is a top priority. We believe in total transparency not just in the food you eat, but in how we handle the data you provide us. This policy explains our practices in simple, human-readable terms.
1. Data We Collect
Camera Access: We request camera access strictly to scan barcodes and read food labels. We only capture images when you explicitly initiate a scan.
Product Data: We collect barcodes and the textual data extracted from the food products you scan.
Usage Analytics: We collect anonymous metrics on feature usage to fix bugs and improve the app.
2. How We Use It
Real-Time Synthesis: We process your scans instantly to provide you with dietary alignments and health warnings.
Community Donation: Images of food packaging may be anonymously donated to the Open Food Facts open-source database.
Service Enhancement: Usage trends help us understand which features need improvement.
3. Third-Party Services
We rely on world-class, trusted infrastructure to power our intelligence engine:
We query their massive API for product data and optionally upload your anonymous packaging photos to expand the global food repository.
When a product is unknown, packaging images are sent securely to our multi-modal AI router (cascading through Google, Cloudflare/Meta, and OpenRouter) strictly for text extraction. Images are processed ephemerally.
4. Security
We implement robust security measures to protect your data. We do not store personal photos, biometric data, or any imagery not directly related to food packaging. AI processing is ephemeral.
5. Children
Our service is not directed to individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children and will delete any such data if discovered.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, our inbox is always open.
